Raga Bhairav uses a Komal Rishabh (minor second) and a Teevra Nishad (major seventh) compared to Raga Charukeshi which uses a Teevra Rishabh (major second) and a Komal Nishad (minor seventh). Placid Hour is based on Raga Bhoopali (or Raga Mohanam). It is closely related to an earlier composition called Prolific Hour based on Raga Malkauns (or Raga Hindolam). Raga Bhoopali is a murchhana of Raga Malkauns by taking the Komal Dhaivat (minor sixth) in Malkauns as the Sa (tonic) for Bhoopali. To listen to the earlier composition check

Mixed Roots is based on Raga Shankarabharanam. It is closely related to another composition in this album called Strong Roots. Mixed Roots uses microtonal modulation to repeatedly change the tonic by an interval of Pramana Shruti (syntonic comma). This is possible in Raga Shankarabharanam using the note Re (major second) which can have two intonations, one matching the Pa (perfect fifth) and the other matching the Dha (major sixth).
Flight at First Light is based on Raga Bhairavi which is also called Raga Sindhubhairavi in South India. To listen to the earlier version check

Home Away From Home is again a showcase of two Ragas, namely, Raga Malkauns (or Hindolam) and Raga Bhoopali (Mohanam). Raga Bhoopali is a murchhana of Raga Malkauns by taking the Komal Dhaivat (minor sixth) in Malkauns as the Sa (tonic) for Bhoopali. The composition is devised to alternate between the Ragas by means of shifting the tonic.
